Plot is simple - group of middle class family kids have their set of problems, adventures and then a boy who cleans cars come to stay in their colony. How their lives changes when they strongly feels about something AND the kids take action about that forms the story of this movie.

The best part of the movie is opening where each character is introduced through their traits and "nicknames" are given to each character. Another good part is when these privileged middle class family kids realize the importance of the love, affection and care provided by their parents.

Though it is children's movie there are quiet number of moments which bring lump in your throat-specially when Fatka brings a birthday gift for his dog but can not find him anywhere. The way he goes mad that he is unable to find his dog , his cries are really touching.

There are plenty of reasons why i liked the movie - first it is children movie with children mind and heart in place. Children can connect to the story immediately. second is the characters/kids of the movie are very real - neither sugary sweet nor brooding with enmity types. They are normal kids with normal kid like feelings and aspirations. Sometimes i wonder that this new indian generation is going to ber very smart. third is the chemistry between the kids is too real. The dialogues are so very natural and good. Casting is too good. All the kids seem perfect in their part.

All in all a very well attempt in direction of children movies.

live fully now

we tend to postpone very simple and basic thing in life - living fully. Humans think we will live when we finish this big project or when so and so thing will happen or some other target. We tell others that we will be more careful, more caring etc etc when we will have more time at hand.We promise ourselves and even pardon our self for not being as good as we expected us to be.Like we promise that we will begin exercising when we have more time in hand or when our kid grows a bit.No one wants to make massive changes to the way they think, feel and behave. Human beings love staying within the comfort zone. Many many years have passed and that "golden" time is yet to arrive when we can "live" and "be happy" ;-)
Deep within us, each one of us knows that there will never be a better time to live our biggest life than now. And if not today, then when?

So we should always strive for what we want while celebrating/adjusting with what we have currently. Be grateful to journey of life and do some things which we always wanted to do.

after 2 years

Today while reading my own blog entries i have realized that i have come long way. When I left my home in July 2009 , there were lots of unknowns. I was bit happy and lot of worried for new life. Now 2 years have gone by. I was excited for new life in usa and at the same time worried for my professional life,my job.

These two years have been mixed in terms of happiness and sorrows. We got AARUSHI who is our hope for future and is our life. Thats the highest part of these years.I am happy.I want to be happy.

I want to finish this blog with note that life is continuous struggle and we do get rewarded, though many factors affect this reward :-).

I hope n wish that every1 gets the rewards of the struggles which life is making them go through and make them happy.

Kalyug Movie

I watched "Kalyug", produced by Shashi Kapoor and directed by Shyam Benegal, today. It is modernization of epic Mahabharat. The whole story is set in contemporary setup with warring business families. It shows that humans are still repeating the same mistakes results of which are told in epic.Thousands of years have passed but humans could not grow above those mistakes and still tread the path of destruction. We all are filled with jealousy and maddening ambition which takes control of us and leads us to wrong path.

The basic premise of the movie is two warring business families (who are related by blood). The relations take nasty turn after some tender-failure which makes it male-movie but the writers of the movie made sure that woman characters are also given importance and it comes across verr well. Though woman are not in the line of the main story but can not be ignored. They are not eye candy but all their gestures say a lot about the situation.

I was intrigued by Rekha's character, named Supriya, her will to control decisions of people around her ,and her fighting spirit. She is as mystic as Draupadi's character of Mahabharat. I found Supriya Pathak's character interesting, she is called Subhadra. She is shown to be very naive to handle her husband in times of his failure. There are enough hints in the movie which shows that Supriya likes her brother-in-law,Anant Nag(named Bharat), but all the hints are very subtle. Rekha asks him to remove his moustaches in middle of some discussion and he simply laughs over that idea. But he is shown without moustaches in remaining part of the movie. Rekha does not have much relation with her husband who is very calm and quiet. Towards the end, she turns to Bharat for all the help instead of her husband. Also, when Bharat is totally devasted by the turn of the events and his wife ,Subhadra,is unable to console him, Supriya enters the room and decides to take care of him.

Supriya, played by Rekha and Dharam, played by Raj Babbar, looks perfect couple to outside world ,both look too mature and composed. But they have little in common. Rekha is totally into worldly affairs and always wants to be in winning side. Her husband looks at life more spiritually and philosophically. What a irony !!

All in all, well made movie. Her husband ,who is in habit of writing dairy, gets curious and does investigation by reading his dairies. He has questions that concerns Tabu's fidelity and he rightly confronts her. She honestly tells him the truth and reasons of infidelity. He could not understand her at all and insults her in front of his friends. So far so good.
A man has spend more than 25 years of his life with woman and the way he disgraces her is totally unfair. He could never ever understand his own wife and her viewpoint.
Aditi explains that starts of the marriage was shaky for both of them with Shri being busy in his work always and on his tours most of the times. She was at home alone and feeling lonely. She asks him if they could get child Or may be she could work to pass her time. He overrules both of the options and throws an option of learning music. Tabu makes relationship with his music teacher who had sensed her lonilness. She begets son from him. Now,he is died after naming her as heir. Still ,Shrikant fails to understand the situation and worried for reaction of whole world.

I liked end of the movie where Aditi answers all the questions of Shrikant , it is totally brillant.

Watch it some time for good quality and no-nonsense movie.

in redmond,seattle

writing this post from archstone redmond hill, redmond near seattle.
My husband wanted to make this part of the world our home for few years and here we are. Setting up a new home is something i like so that i do not repeat previous mistakes. :-) So that part involves lots of excitement along with work. Looking for new job is making me feel pressurised and i m postponing this thought till i reach new place. But setting up new home also involves leaving previous home in which i had put in work . Getting a new job also involves leaving previous one and parting with friendships made. But i firmly believe that something good must be in store for me and want to tread this path also.
Let me wish myself good luck and happiness in this move.

Let me end it with Gulzar song :

Ek Raah Rukh Gayi Tho Aur Judh Gayi
Main Mura Tho Saath Saath Raha Murgayi

Galti sab se hoti hai...

Even Google Search Engine can failure even for few minutes...Read this link for full story..
If you did a Google search between 6:30 a.m. PST and 7:25 a.m. PST on 31-Jan-2009, you likely saw that the message "This site may harm your computer" accompanied each and every search result.
http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/01/this-site-may-harm-your-computer-on.html

People who fail/fall seldom are noticed more when they fail/fall...

Ghajini-first movie in 2009

Yesterday,i went to see "Ghajini" with my husband and few friends. Already heard that it is loosely based on "momento" and made on theme "short term memory loss". Aamir has acted too well and i liked his performance more than "tara zameen par". I do not want to write a review of this movie but thought which hit me while & after watching this movie.
1.How small incidents change the course of life for people. Kalpana's chance meeting of the small girl (which was being taken to goa) changed life of Sanjay. Sanjay suffered a fatal blow on his head trying to save Kalpana. Is real life also full of such anomalies...
2.Another thought which crossed and empowered my mind is "will" power is supreme of all the disorders and problems which life tosses at us.Sanjay could have got Ghajini killed easily with all the money and affulence and power which he had but he did not. He overcame his inability to fight his own battle. I like to watch people rising above the problems.
I have made a resolution of writing a post on all the movies which i will watch in 2009 (in cinema halls:-)).

softicians

My thinking train started after reading following article on web:

http://www.outlookbusiness.com/print.aspx?articleid=1530&editionid=40&catgid=13&subcatgid=370

My thoughts are that S/W industry will always remain in india and the equilibrium/saturation will be achieved sooner or later - It is still very young in india. One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and then she can see everything, including her boyfriend. Her boyfriend asked her, "now that you can see the world, will you marry me?" A young journalist (TV reporter) started a furore by presenting a report on why india has not been able to find suitable candidate for Bharat Ratna and also suggested name of "Sachin Tendulkar" for the same.

Now the politics of "Bharat Ratna" started. The government of India started receiving messages from various political parties, recommending various politicians, who are either dead or retired or soon to retire or in a state of semi-retirement, for the Bharat Ratna. The Bharatiya Janata Party has recommended Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, the Bahujan Samaj Party has recommended the late Mr. Kanshi Ram, the communists are supposed to have been peddling the name of Mr. Jyoti Basu, whereas the Akalis are now supposed to have joined the race with Mr. Parkash Singh Badal as their candidate and the Telugu Desam Party is not far behind with their demand for the award to go to the late Mr. N. T. Rama Rao.

Bharat Ratna is india's highest civilian award, awarded for the highest degrees of national service. This service includes artistic, literary, and scientific achievements, as well as "recognition of public service of the highest order. Holders of the Bharat Ratna do not carry any special title or other honorific, but they get a special place in order of precedence of the country. Till date, Bharat Ratna has been awarded to 40 persons including two non-Indians (Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan and Nelson Mandela) and a naturalised Indian citizen (Mother Teresa).

Politicial parties have forgotton that bharat ratna is award for good humanitarian work and not reward for loyality towards any politicial party. It can definitely be not decided by political parties.

New bharat ratna should be one who identifies with the rising india and with whom indian population identifies and is defintely a gem (ratna). Every worse experience was like end of life at that point of time. Life beyond that seemed impossible. But that never happened. :-) Every success was high crest and every failure was deep trough.

Met people, made friends, few stayed on and few moved on. I was thinking of old school friends when friends made so much to average school goer.

I never made very many friends...but had list of friends with size more than 1 at all the stages of life-school,college. I was thinking of friends which i made in school and college today.Slowly I lost contact with many of them. Many got married, became parents and became busy in their rspective life. Many moved on to greener pastures and never looked back. Made new friends and again clicked chords with them. It reminds of failing leafs of tree..leafs fall & new leaves come on the tree. Some leafs might stay longer than others but eventually every leaf falls one day or the other. As long as tree is healthy enough to bear new leafs,it will be loaded with leaves. It will have leafs as per the season-something more something less.So much similar to life of humans. The point is to go on in the life no matter what is the season.

why me ?

Many times we hear that we reap what we sow. But is that true ?
Also, when disaster hits us we tend to pity ourself by saying or asking God why me ? After some time we forget- why me and tend to handle the situation. Why me is incorrect thinking...Children are born to parents who are unwilling to take care of them for various reasons & leave them to ashram etc..what was the fault of 2 days old child ? Innocent people are deceived and used by clever people. What is fault of innocent people ? Decided to write some lines on this. As a kid in school,we used to get some one liners and were asked to write few sentences on it.
What this means is that we need to put in the best of our ability but we should not think of results. Life will respond back if our efforts are sincere and honest. May be some dreams are unfulfilled.Sometimes luck does not smile on us and our endeavour are not rewarded. Sometimes one gets to a point where one knows that nothing is working. It's not about losing hope. It's about trusting life. Millons of people have come to this earth before us and millon will come after us. Each one had some wishes fulfilled & many unfullfilled. It's not easy to let go of what you want. But why wouldn't you if something even better is waiting just around the corner? Hope for the best and do work to the best of ability. Have faith in almight's justice.

Robin Sharma's Blog Item

I was reading Robin Sharma's blog ..he writes really too well. One of the excerpts :-

Problems are Servants Tue June 12, 2007
We all face challenges. It's the human condition. Everyone, on this very day, is dealing with something they wish they weren't dealing with. Some have lost a loved one. Others are facing an illness. For others, it's a money issue or a frustration at work. Yes, it's no fun. But just maybe every problem you encounter is an opportunity in disguise. And if you're wise to that, you can leverage the challenge for even greater success.
In some ways, leadership is a mind game. Positive thinking is a lot more important than the cynics would suggest. The founders of Google used positive thinking to overcome their early setbacks and to stay true to their vision. Sam Walton used positive thinking to build an empire. And the best managers use positive thinking to help their teams see that what ordinary people view as stumbling blocks, the best amongst us see as stepping stones.
Because problems are servants. And they truly can serve you well. If you choose to let them.

Graduation Speech 2005 by Steve jobs

Steve Jobs' address to Stanford's graduating class of 2005 was in very mould of speaker . Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. Initially,I worked like dogs - giving my sweat to this industry. I was starry-eyed graduate who wanted to reach great heights in her career and some how time put in the office for work became proportional to heights achieved in career. But now with time things gave changed for me.I dont like to work for more than 8 hours a day in office. I want to come on time and leave on time and also,do my work up to the mark . The very fact that i want to do my work properly means than I have not become un ambitious. But there is some change in attitude and thinking. I like a life of sweet 7 o'clock mornings with sunrise and 10pm all quiet and lights off. I do not desire to be awake later than 11:00pm in the night. I feel sane with that routine of ontime. My life seems to be in control. For the rest of the day, I would prefer to do other things like cook, clean, organise, think about my life, spend time with my people or just sit and do nothing. That is my personal choice of life.

I understand that software industry is based on competition but we should also understand that it is based on quality of work.

Is it possible to have a 9 to 5 routine and be a good performer? Not in the industry I come from. I have scintillating evidence for that. May be people never thought that it could be done. I distinctly remember that when i was studying in 11th standard,my friend's elder sister "Jitendra Kaur" was in 12th standard. She was our role model-studious,good in sports and without any affairs attached to her (:-) and high moral values-dream child for her parents. Now she is senior research scientist in AIIMS delhi after doing her MPhil from DU.I remember that she never burned mid-night oils like all of us.She told me that she will do most of studies in class room only,go back to home & study for another 2-3 hours and thats it. I remember that at that time fashion/fad was to study till mid-night 12'o clok for last 5 months of board exams. But she never did that and still passed with some 85%. I believe that brain needs rest and with rest,it works better. If we can use the concentration and brain power when you are awake-one need not work for more than 8 hours a day.
Lets come to point which i was thinking- putting in 8 hours a day in IT industry and still be good at our work. Now I am tired of long working hours and I dont want them no more. I want to organise my house,do cooking, read newspaper, pray to GOD and generally be happy.

Actually it all depends on what you want to commit yourself to. If you are committed to only that one thing in life and that is career, you going the right way by putting in long working hours. But what if you have more than one loves in life and you want to do justice to all of them. What if you want to have a balanced life- a little bit of everything? Some electronics, some sunlight, some moonlight, some good old music, some nice cooking, sometime to go for a long nature walk and some peaceful good old sleep. Is it too difficult to achieve.I think it is rational. Maybe I should try and experiment to see how much of it is possible. Just 8 hours every day!

Ordinarily, I'm not into diary writing and that kind of thing, but when I do write, it's usually one of those days when I'm having a bad day and trying to understand life's mystery. None of that turned out to be true.

Now, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has introduced a new rationale for the invasion of Iraq, high gas prices. From a radio interview last week:

SECRETARY RUMSFELD: The fact of the matter is - if Saddam Hussein were still in power in Iraq, he would be rolling in petrol dollars. Think of the price of oil today. He would have so much money. And he would be seeing the Iranians interested in a nuclear program, he would be seeing the North Koreans developing a nuclear program, and he’d say well why shouldn’t he - and he would. So we’re fortunate that he’s gone.

Of course, one of the reason gas prices are high is instability in the Middle East — created, in part, by the invasion of Iraq.

http://thinkprogress.org/2006/09/17/rumsfeld-gas-prices/

Quest Net

suppose everyone can make 2 nodes down a person and india's population is 100 crores.
then
1
2
4
8
16
32
64 --> 2 ^ 6
128 --> 2 ^ 7
256  --> 2 ^ 8
.
.
.
.
536870912 ---> 2 ^ 29
1073741824 --> 2 ^ 30

that means that if whole india participats in this scheme that it can be covered in 30 layers (height of the tree shall be 30)
people who are the lowest layer will be the loser of the money (totally losing it)
1073741824 - 536870912 = 536870912 people will be total losers.

One assumption is that it is balanced tree which will not be the case in real life.it will be skewed.

It is definite that people at the end of the tree (height 28,29,30) will be losers.

It looks like a major scam. I was really impressed with the acting of the little girl-chuhia (small female rat) and Seema Biswas. It was a good thought provoking film on woman widowhood set in early nineties.

The unfortunate women who can not be "sati" are doomed to live austere life. Widowed women were supposed to spend days chanting prayers in praise of GOD and ask alms for making their living. Family was supposed to disown them.Widow remarriage was prohibited by dharma pandits and shastras. And on top of that, child marriage was norm of the day. I wonder millons of woman must be living downtrodden life in early nineties.

But I have always maintained that some where woman are responsible for their bad(?) conditions.Man were always law makers and women carried them out without questions.

Life is unfair

Who said life is fair ? Life is unfair and get used to it. These are famous words by Bill Gates, owner of Microsoft.

When we see ourselves as victims, we become caught in our circumstance whether it be a past or present experience. Our natural response to negative situations is anger. The fact is that we live in a sinful world. However, problems arise when we see life from an unfair perspective. We feel bad; therefore, we try to find things to compensate for the bad feelings.
Yes, there are injustices. Guiltless people are sent to prison. Terrorists make plans to strike at innocent citizens. Medals and Awards are presented for political reasons instead of merit. To rise up and fight against these and other forms of inequity is not only proper, but ennobling.

If we catch ourselves harbouring unjustified thoughts that the world is unfair, it’s time to change our views. Why? Because such views are unproductive. They are self-defeating.

wishes

I am downloading a official document to work on and since it is slow & taking up my time so i decided to write something. I always liked to read good books.Somehow I think that they give intellectual ting to your personality. Just few moments back, I had many things to write about. But now I feel blank - completely wiped out. Very strange.
I have never been much of a writer-never ever written any story in teenage and never got any prize in story writing though i like to write since child hood. I have no formal training or professional experience with writing. But its always been a little dream in my heart to use words to touch a few heartstrings, hold someone's attention. I like to use good and apt words even in my daily conversation.

Life is what happens to you when you are busy making other plans

Today my enthusiastic husband wants me to pen my thoughts on blogspot. I am very low on enthusiasm and initiative side.. prefer to live the way it is happening manytime (maybe most of the times) but he is opposite to me in many ways and same in many other ways. Lets start on the blog now.

When I hit upon the title-line few years ago,I thought that I have understood it.But to my dismay I have understood new meaning of it which seems to be the best explaination right now. I m sure that few years down the time frame,I will extract another new meaning from it which will seem to be best explaination at that time. Thoughts & perceptions keep changing, maybe getting finer & crisp day by day - may be this is maturing up process. Saying goes "Man proposes and God disposes" which is another good explaination of Life is what happens to you when ....
