Retirement
may 31 2007
Today my mother is getting retired from government job. She is been working since she was 18+ years old.Such a long time in employment, managing home, childrens, relatives, friends etc.
she has a big circle of relatives and friends. Retirement is the point where a person stops employment/work completely but life does not stop.

Water
Few days back I watched "Water" movie with my husband. I was really impressed with the acting of the little girl-chuhia (small female rat) and Seema Biswas. It was a good thought provoking film on woman widowhood set in early nineties.
The unfortunate women who can not be "sati" are doomed to live austere life. Widowed women were supposed to spend days chanting prayers in praise of GOD and ask alms for making their living. Family was supposed to disown them.Widow remarriage was prohibited by dharma pandits and shastras. And on top of that, child marriage was norm of the day. I wonder millons of woman must be living downtrodden life in early nineties.
But I have always maintained that some where woman are responsible for their bad(?) conditions.Man were always law makers and women carried them out without questions.

Life is unfair
Who said life is fair ? Life is unfair and get used to it. These are famous words by Bill Gates, owner of Microsoft.
When we see ourselves as victims, we become caught in our circumstance whether it be a past or present experience. Our natural response to negative situations is anger. The fact is that we live in a sinful world. However, problems arise when we see life from an unfair perspective. We feel bad; therefore, we try to find things to compensate for the bad feelings.
Yes, there are injustices. Guiltless people are sent to prison. Terrorists make plans to strike at innocent citizens. Medals and Awards are presented for political reasons instead of merit. To rise up and fight against these and other forms of inequity is not only proper, but ennobling.
If we catch ourselves harbouring unjustified thoughts that the world is unfair, it’s time to change our views. Why? Because such views are unproductive. They are self-defeating.
